Building a Modern Datasphere Data Platform

Design and implementation of a central data platform based on SAP Datasphere – enabling self-service analytics and a consistent data foundation across the company.

Initial Situation

The client’s data landscape was distributed across multiple systems: BW, operational SAP systems, and non-SAP sources. For business departments, accessing consistent data was labor-intensive and often tied to manual Excel processes.

Objectives

Build a central, cloud-based data platform
Simplify reporting and analytics processes
Enable self-service analytics for business units
Define clear data governance & role models

Approach & Architecture

Together with IT and business departments, a target architecture for the data platform based on SAP Datasphere was developed: spaces, responsibilities, a layered model, and integration paths into existing systems.

This was followed by connecting relevant sources (BW on HANA, operational systems, non-SAP data), data modeling for prioritized use cases, and integrating SAC for dashboards and self-service reporting.
